Years ago I was doing a workshop, one of the assignment was to find six objects around my house that were important to me. It didn't matter what they were.
I walked and walked around my house and as I walked and looked at all my Knickknacks I began to realize the things that mattered were so individual.
I love my family so I took a photo of Dale, my three girls and me that was in a frame that I cherished.
Then I found a beautiful crystal candlestick because I love candles and the way they make a room feel, all warm and cozy. I love Ansley china and I have a few pieces, one of them being a bud vase, I love flowers so I put a beautiful rose in the bud vase.
I love old things and I was very proud of one of the showcase homes that I had done so I took a beautifully hand painted antique dish that I used in this particular showcase home and set it next to the other objects. Lastly, I love the smell of vanilla so I put vanilla potpourri in the dish.
What happened next was magical. I felt that the room was on fire. I started to cry and felt overwhelmed with love and joy. I realized then the importance of treasures. It doesn't matter what they are as long as they are important to you.
This was one of the most empowering exercises I have ever done and I highly encourage you to try this and see what happens.
Take your time and just walk around your home 1st to get an idea of what warms your heart. Our rooms are usually filled with a lot of non-essentials, but within all that is something that fills you up.
